Don't acknowledge the ignorance in this town, you'll only encourage it to sound off and sound even dumber. Trust me on this one. |

I cant believe it, Port Jervis finially gets something decent and classy and there is someone to complain. Port Java hasn't taken away your ability to get coffee at the diner or gas station. There are many residents happy to have a few businesses that might improve the lousy reputation of this city. |

Just what Port needs, another coffee shop that is nothing more than a liberal elitist clubhouse. It was bad enough when Café Roxanna opened charging outrageous prices for a large coffee, but yet another of these “Yuppies from Hell” caffeine depots has opened at Front and Sussex streets. Port Java opened a few weeks ago with the tag line “For the Discriminating Coffee Drinker”, in other words if you can’t pay $2.10 for a large coffee don’t bother walking in. The left often use devices to shame the public into over paying for the same crap that you can get at the No-Frills aisle at the local supermarket. Port Java is no different., they tout “Fair Trade” coffee at this little prospective imitation Starbuck’s. Like anyone cares about “Fair Trade” when gas is at $3.00 a gallon or better. What “Fair Trade” really means is that a few extra pennies are throw to the South American coffee grower to justify charging as much as $40.00 a pound for something that you can get for a buck a cup at any local diner. Even barring the feel good trademark on the unreasonably priced coffee. What about the food menu? $6.50 for a Spinach Salad?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? “Indecisive Salad Sandwich”? I got news for you, its called T-U-N-A. Indecisive? I thought it was Cat Food. Here is 50 cents, next time spring for the albacore. Of course, if one can call the items listed food. This menu seems to have come from some sort of demonic politically correct fusion diet cookbook that even the hardiest glutton would purge faster than a super model before a photo shoot. Of course we all know that these “offend no one” types all guard their secret stash of pre-early 90’s cans of tuna because even they know that it just ain’t the same anymore without the dolphin. Let us review shall we? We have an Elitist Clubhouse, Yuppies from hell, Shaming to justify outrageous pricing and food choices that at best are questionable. I’ll stick to the old-fashioned bacon and eggs at Joe’s or the burger with enough cholesterol that you can feel your arteries harden at Homer’s. (BTW: they both keep REFILLING your coffee cup). So you can keep your big city style coffee with all of its make-believe authenticity. Me, I will go to Joe’s or Homer’s and spend the extra 50 cents on gas to get there. Also, don’t believe me on all this rubbish, go see it for yourself at their saccharine sweet Website www.port-java.com |
