Senior 10, hopefully you get a great education and learn some insight into school budgets and taxes. You don't want to be one of the many families living in Port Jervis that are being foreclosed upon due to ever increasing, outrageous school taxes. All their hard work, down the drain due to a greedy school system. Higher taxes only hurts the students in the end since there won't be anyone left to support the schools.

Nothing changes, give to the administration and their cronnies, but cut the less paid employees totally out of the picture. Trying to save money, they are wasting more and more.

Teachers did get a double digit pay increase. That fact is true.

Another fact that is true that Port Jervis drop out rate is the highest in Orange county.

Another fact that is true, take out NYC and the counties in the metro area school districts. Port Jervis is 18th in the state in drop out rate.

So stop sticking up for the teachers. We are dealing with kids here. 20% drop out rate is CRAZY!

I don't believe your figures are accurate. I would bet that neither the teachers or any of the other employees got anywhere near a double digit pay raise. Port is one of the lowest paying districts in the area. These facts are easy to verify if you want to take the time. It sounds to me that you would rather "shoot from the hip" than take the time to get your facts straight.

The drop out rate says ALOT about what kind of teachers we have in Port Jervis.

Ok, the kids that are not getting any support from home will never get any.....But as a teacher seeing that a kid has zero interest says ALOT about how they teach.

Let me ask you this.......

At your job, is it ok to have your work at a 20% or bettter failure rate and still keep your job???? Try working at your job for one year and everything you do is wrong at 20% or better and not get in trouble!

Also get double digit pay increases and your job is only part time!!!

This is crazy!!!

Does the dropout rate at Port have anything to do with the support the school gets from the home, or should I say the lack of support?

Last time I checked.....Levi's where around $35 a pair. If you get Wranglers at Wal-Mart, they go for about $14 a pair.

Seriously...I hope your not paying 2 to 3 hundred dollars for a pair of pants or shoes.

Paying high school taxes is something to get pissy about.

Teachers have class 180 days a year, teach 5 classes a day for about 50 mins a class. We have the highest drop out rate in Orange county. Newburgh is in a distant 2nd. What we worry about in the town are sports. Not education.

Bla Bla Bla.....

Yes he was great....get over it.

It would be nice to have a ton of AD for all sports. But it comes donw to, how much do you want sucked out of your pockets?

Pay to play must be a choice when it comes to sports.

Why should home owners get huge increases each year when cuts need to be made in the budget?
